Health Policy

healthpolicyAs part of its awareness and outreach efforts, the UNC Kidney Center strives to be a catalyst for policy change at the local and national level. Through legislative tracking, policy advocacy, and participation on the North Carolina Chronic Kidney Disease Task Force, the UNCKC is working to stay abreast of, and advocate for, policy changes that affect kidney patients and the practice of nephrology. The UNCKC is also working to educate state and congressional legislators and policymakers about the burden of kidney disease and end stage kidney disease and help them develop policy initiatives to address those burdens and increase the quality of life for citizens at risk and living with kidney disease.

For more information on specific policies and ways you can help advocate, check out the "For Patients", "For NC Legislators" and "For Physicians" links to the left for bill summaries and useful links.

We also have a new, state-by-state listing of current bills in our "State Policy Initiatives" section.
