Specialty Areas: ANCA-associated disease: gene expression and regulation, antigens and antibodies purification and biology, leukocyte activation, endothelial apoptosis and animal surgery.

Chronology: MD: Peking University, 1970; Physician: Xian Railway Central Hospital, 1970-80; Attending Nephrologist: Xian Railway Central Hospital, 1981-9; Visiting Scholar: University of North Carolina, 1989-91; Post-Doctoral Research Associate: University of North Carolina, 1991-5; Research Associate: University of North Carolina, 1995-2001;Assistant Professor of Research: University of North Carolina, 2001-Present

Dr. Yang's research focuses on the pathogenesis of ANCA associated glomerulophritis and vasculitis. She investigates the leukocyte activation, including neutrophils and monocytes activated by ANCA and T-cell proliferated by complementary PR3 peptide, and ANCA antigens, PR3 and MPO, directly induce vascular endothelial injury. She also research changes of gene expression levels in leukocytes of patients with ANCA-disease, the causes of these changes and the relation with clinic characteristics.
