The University of North Carolina Hospitals Transplant Clinic opened in May 2006 and is dedicated to providing comprehensive pre- and post-operative care of kidney and other organ [pancreas, liver, heart and lung] transplant recipients and their donors. The multi-disciplinary transplant team is comprised of nephrologists, surgeons, nurse coordinators, pharmacists, psychologists, and social workers, as well as cardiologists, endocrinologists and dermatologists. Clinical research protocols make available the latest advances in immunosuppressive medications and other medical/surgical innovations. Our goal is the improvement in patient clinical outcomes through efforts in education, research, and clinical medicine.
