Dr. Finn's research interests include acute renal failure, nephrotoxicity and disorders of vitamin D and mineral metabolism. He is the recipient of over 30 research grants and has served as principle or co-investigator for scientific and clinical studies of renal failure and transplantation. Finn serves as editor-in-chief of Renal Failure; he has held this post since 1989. He co-edited the textbook, Acute Renal Failure, a companion to Brenner and Rector's The Kidney. He has held executive posts in numerous medical and scientific committees and advisory boards at the state, national, and international levels. These positions include chief medical director of Carolina Organ Donor Services, president of the North Carolina affiliate of the National Kidney Foundation, and southeast regional vice-president of the National Kidney Foundation.
